Houston STEM and Career Academy
Opening in August 2027
The 150.000 square-foot facility will open doors to students in the fall of 2027. The school is located on Highway 41 at Crestview Church Road. Funded by the state, county, and the District's local capital outlay program, the school will feature 35 classrooms and have a competition gym available for large events such as FIRST Robotics.
The school will prepare students for future jobs, offering hands-on training in fields such as cybersecurity, engineering, healthcare, and robotics. Through the pathways available, our goals is to equip students for success amid a competitive job market and provide a local pipeline into in-demand industries.
Allied Health Pathways
In August 2027, the Allied Health Wing of the Houston STEM and Career Academy will open its doors to students from across our district. This innovative facility will offer eighteen specialized pathways, designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in the medical field.
On this website, you can explore each pathway in detail. Each page outlines the credential earned, required clinical hours, prerequisites, and the number of students accepted from each high school.
Because these programs are hands-on and clinically based, space will be limited when the school opens in August of 2027. We anticipate only two to four students per high school will be accepted per pathway.
Programs that lead to a degree, diploma, or Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) through Central Georgia Technical College are full credential programs, not just exploratory pathways. While the term “pathway” is sometimes used to describe a sequence of courses, these programs are designed to result in the completion of a recognized credential. Once students complete the program, they are prepared to enter the workforce with qualifications that lead to real career opportunities and livable wages.
We encourage parents and students to review the pathway information carefully and work with your counselor to ensure students are registered for the prerequisites needed in the 2026-2027 school year.
We look forward to welcoming the next generation of healthcare leaders to the Houston STEM and Career Academy.
