HCSD Mobile App for Families

We’re excited to announce that the Houston County School District has launched a new mobile app called the Houston County School District app! This app is designed to streamline communication between schools and families by replacing the need for multiple apps like Class Dojo and Remind. Through the app, both the District and your child’s school will be able to share important updates in one central location.

Our goal is to provide families with a more efficient and effective way to stay informed about what’s happening at school. We know communication is extremely important, and this tool will help ensure you never miss important news or updates.

While the app is currently available to download in your phone’s App Store, please note that it will not be fully functional until the start of the 2025–2026 school year.

With the app, families can now:
📅 View a calendar of events
📰 Stay up-to-date with District and school-wide announcements

Once school begins in July, families can:
👩‍🏫 Connect directly with their child’s teacher through the Classrooms feature
📷 View pictures sent by the school and teachers
🔔 Receive important alerts & notifications from your child’s teacher
📂 View important documents related to your child’s class and school
💬 Use two-way communication between teachers and parents

Additionally, we are launching a new mass alerts system for important messages. In addition to phone calls and email, schools now have the ability to send SMS texts. No matter what school your child attends, texts will be received from the number 98900—please save this number to your contacts.

Thank you for partnering with us. We look forward to improving how we stay connected with you!

This section of the app, parents will be required to login for access. The general public will not be able to view this section. Important Note: Rooms will not be available until the school year begins.
  • Messages: Two-way direct communication between the teacher and parent or student.
  • Events: The District and each school have a calendar within our mobile app where users can export to their personal calendar, open in maps on their mobile device for directions, and share the event digitally with others.

Reminder: Classrooms will not be available until school begins in July.

Additional articles and information can be found in the app's Help Center.

We will be adding more to this section as additional features are available.

Q: What number will texts be received from?

A: No matter what school your child attends, texts will be received from the number 98900 - please save this number to your contacts.

Q: Can we delete DoJo from our phones?

A; Many parents are choosing to keep DoJo until they have had a chance to save things like pictures from the 2024-2025 school year. If you are paying for the enhanced features on DoJo, we would recommend canceling the subscription.

Q: Will the HCSD mobile app be the only app I need for my kids?

A; There are multiple apps used by the District but the HCSD mobile app will eventually be the only communication app used by schools replacing DoJo and Remind. The other apps - Infinite Campus, Here Comes the Bus, and MySchoolBucks - are used for other purposes besides communication.  To learn more about these apps, visit the Parent Information Center webpage.

Q: I'm concerned the app is not secure and anyone who downloads it will be able to see information about my child's specific classes.

A: There is a public feed for the District and schools where everyone can see general announcements, news, and events. The public feed is very similar to following a school on Facebook. Once students return in July, classrooms will be available. Classrooms allow teachers to interact directly with parents through classroom posts, classroom announcements, and two-way messaging. Teachers can also share documents and files that pertain to their class. This section of the app, parents will be required to login for access. The general public will not be able to view this section.
