Parkwood and Westside Rezoning for the 2026-2027 School Year

During the Houston County Board of Education meeting on October 14, 2025, a drafted zoning proposal was introduced that will affect students at Parkwood and Westside. All proposed changes would take place beginning at the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

Impact to Students

Beginning in August 2026, our two schools will join together to better support student growth and success by sharing one school zone and working as a united team to serve our community.

  • Parkwood Elementary will become Parkwood Primary, serving students in Pre-K through 2nd grade.
  • Westside Elementary will serve students in 3rd through 5th grade.

The primary and elementary model has proven successful in other schools across our district, and we are confident this will create even more opportunities for our students.

Community Meetings & Board Vote

The district held parent meetings on September 16,2025 at Parkwood and Westside. The meeting provided the community an opportunity to hear more details, ask questions, and learn how this transition will benefit students and the community.

The Board will vote on the proposed school zone changes during the November Board meeting, which will be held on November 10, 2025 at 6:00pm at the District’s central office.
