• The Media Center is named for Dennis L. Powell, former principal.
• The gymnasium is named after Edsel Dorough, former principal.
• 2009: Title I Distinguished School and made adequate yearly progress for seven consecutive years.
• July 2026: Parkwood Elementary came Parkwood Primary
