Houston County School District’s Graduation Rate Increases to 93.3%

Today, the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) released the 2025 high school graduation rates from around the state. The 2025 Houston County School District’s graduation rate is 93.3%, which is 6.1% higher than the state’s rate of 87.2%. The Houston County School District saw a 2.1% increase from 2024 when the graduation rate was 91.2%.

“Our graduation rates continue to improve each year. With a renewed focus and determination to raise this rate across the District, we’re proud to have exceeded our goal once again,” said Dr. Richard Rogers, Superintendent of Schools. “The dedication and teamwork of our staff, students, teachers, and their families are truly making a difference in our students’ lives. We couldn’t be prouder of every graduate for their perseverance and commitment.”

Flu Vaccine Offered for Houston County Students & Employees

The Houston County School District has partnered with the Houston County Health Department for the 17th year to offer free flu vaccines to students and employees. The flu shot is being offered at more than 40 sites between October 16 and November 18. In order for students to receive the vaccine at school, parents are required to complete an online consent form by October 3.

The 2025-2026 School Based Influenza Vaccine Consent Form for students is available online. Forms will not be accepted after October 3. Houston County School District Earns Cognia Systems Accreditation

The Houston County School District is pleased to announce that it has earned Cognia® Systems Accreditation. Cognia is a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts, and education service providers.

“This accreditation from Cognia is a nationally recognized symbol of quality for our District,” shared Dr. Mark Scott, Superintendent of Schools for the Houston County School District. “This accomplishment demonstrates our commitment to excellence through continuous learning and improving to ensure students receive a high quality education.”

Cognia recognizes schools and districts across the globe that meet rigorous standards focused on productive learning environments, equitable resource allocation, and effective leadership. To earn Cognia Systems Accreditation, a school district must submit to internal and external review. Earning accreditation from the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission means that the school system meets Cognia Performance Standards and maintains a commitment to continuous improvement. Schools and districts in good standing can maintain their accreditation for a six-year term.
