PHS Students Awarded Tuskegee Airmen Institute Scholarships
Two Perry High School Class of 2010 graduates received scholarships from the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation (TASF).  Woodrow "Billy" Colbert, Jr. and Diedra Stallings were awarded $1,500 each by the Major General Joseph A. McNeil chapter of the tuskegee Airman Institute.....(more)....

Houston County Schools Announce Systemwide Teacher of the Year
At the August 4, 2010, Opening Session, the Houston County School System honored each of its six Employees of the Year and 37 Teachers of the Year.  The systemwide Teacher of the Year and system finalists were announced for the first time.  Beth Sciarro, an Early Intervention Program reading teacher at Northside Elementary School is the 2010-2011 Houston County Teacher of the Year.....(more)....

2010-2011 Houston County School System Calendar
At the end of the school year, the Houston County Board of Education apprived a revised 2010-2011 school calendar.  This calendar was reduced six days due to state budget cuts.  The first day of school for students in Monday, August 9, 2010, and the last day of the school year will be Wednesday, May 25, 2011....(more)....

Ten Houston County teachers were designated 2010 Georgia Master Teachers, recognizing them among the state's best teachers.  To earn this designation, an educator must have at least three years of classroom experience and evidence that links instruction to appreciable gains in student achievement.....(more)....

AYP Results Released by State
88.9% of Houston County Schools Meet or Exceed Standards
The Georgia Department of Education released the 2010 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) report.  Thirty-two of Houston County's 36 (88.9 percent) evaluated met AYP standards.  Across Georgia, 71.1 percent made AYP in 2010.....(more)....

HB251 Gives Option to Request School Transfer Based on Space Availability
The 2009 Georgia General Assembly approved House Bill 251 (HB251), giving parents/guardians the option to request that their children attend any school within the school system based on space availability. Warner Robins High School students competed in the Le Grand Concours French Test, an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.  Students take a written test and compete against students with similar educational background for prizes such as certificates, medals, books, DVDs, trips and scholarships
