Welcome to Transportation
|
School Bus Safety is a reality when everyone involved takes an active role in educating themselves and our students. Teachers, Parents, Administrators, Transportation Personnel, and roadside companions all play an important part in keeping our children safe while on or around the school bus. Please take the opportunity to browse the School Bus Safety section of our web site. And remember...practicing what we learn is the key to keeping our children safe.

Eligibility for Transportation:
Under regular operating conditions, only bona fide students of the Houston County School System are eligible for school bus transportation. School bus drivers will deny admittance onto the school bus of any individual who does not have prior approval of the Superintendent of Schools or a delegate. Each student eligible for school bus transportation shall be assigned to a particular bus route and shall ride the bus assigned to that route unless otherwise approved by the Houston County Board of Education. Students riding buses shall live a minimum of one and one-half miles from the school they attend; however, under certain conditions the Board may make an exception to this rule (children with various disabilities, etc.). All exceptions are handled on merits of the individual case. Students who are attending schools outside of their zones of residence are denied school bus transportation.
