A 30 day court ordered program, this diversionary program is designed to re-engage truant students into the academic setting. The components of Project Re-Connect include:

1. During each period, the student is required to have a daily tracking form signed by the teacher. That form will account for the student’s attendance, academics, and attitude.

2. Students are required to complete a minimum of 16 hours of community service within the school and/or community. Additionally, some schools are providing opportunities to help students in areas such as tutoring, leadership development, career preparation, etc.

3. The Social Services Department provides a “Project Re-Connect Workshop” that parents and students (middle & high school) are required to attend together. The “Project Re-Connect Workshop” is offered once a month and two sessions are required for a certificate of completion.

4. Within 30 days, follow-up is given to the magistrate and/or juvenile court. At that time, the progress of the student and parent is reported to the judge. If necessary, the case may remain open, or additional services may be ordered.
