O.C.G.A - 20-2-690 Home School Important Information
You do not need to register for home school if you plan to enroll in Georgia Cyber Academy. Students should be withdrawn from Houston County Schools as a ‘transfer’. GCA will request records from the child’s school. However, you may be on a waiting list with GCA. If you are not accepted right away and are put on the waiting list, the student will need to stay in their zoned school or register to be home schooled during the waiting period.
If you plan to withdraw your child from school, public or private, it is important to inform the school of your intentions. Whether you plan to home school, enroll in GCA or private school, you will need to follow the proper withdrawal procedures. After 10 days of unexplained absences, your child can be considered truant if the school is not informed of your plans.
