Dr. Cynthia Hammond, Principal

Dr. Hammond graduated from Ft. Valley State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal justice and originally planned to go to law school. She began her professional career as a police officer in Macon and later worked in Ft. Valley. She was honored as Police Officer of the Year and promoted to Detective where she dealt with juvenile crimes and taught D.A.R.E.  She went back to college to obtain a Master’s Degree in Education, a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate from Argosy University. She began teaching at Byron Middle School and was selected as Byron Middle Teacher of the Year. She then went on to be Peach County’s OVERALL Teacher of the Year. She transferred to Houston County and began teaching at Tabor Middle School in 2000. She was Tabor’s 2004 Teacher of the Year. Dr. Hammond has been an assistant principal for the last five years in Houston County. Of those five years, she has worked at Matt Arthur, Westside, and Miller.  Dr. Hammond was selected as Georgia’s Outstanding Assistant Principal by the Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals for 2009 (GAESP).  She is married and has 3 children.

Reginald Sanks, Ed.D. graduated from Northside High School in Warner Robins, GA. He received his BS in Medical Administration from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, his MS in Education, Middle Grades, from Fort Valley State University, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from NOVA Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Sanks has taught math, and science, and served as assistant principal at Jones Elementary School in Macon and Northside Elementary, in Warner Robins. Currently Dr. Sanks serves as assistant principal at Westside Elementary and Parkwood Elementary.

Mrs. West is wild about learning!
Mrs. Cindy West is the Assistant Principal of Instruction at Westside Elementary. With nineteen years of classroom teaching experience, she has taught kindergarten, first grade and third grade. She loves working with children and teachers. After graduating from Warner Robins High School, Mrs. West received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood from Georgia Southern College, a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southwestern College, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. Married with two sons, Mrs. West is active at both school and church. She greatly enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Morse has been at Westside for nine years. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia in 1997. She later obtained a Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling from grades k-12 in 1999.
Mrs. Morse provides counseling and classroom guidance to help all students have a positive school experience. She serves as a support person for teachers, a consultant for parents, and a liason with outside agencies. She also serves as the building coordinator for the Second Step Program and the Student Support Team along with Ms. Amy Leonard, SST clerk.

Mrs. Strong has been in education for nine years. She has taught in Bulloch, Peach, and Houston counties.   Mrs. Strong obtained a Bachelor of Science in Interrelated Special Education and a Master’s degree in Reading Education from Georgia Southern University.  She also obtained a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of West Alabama. My promise to the students, faculty, and parents of Westside Elementary School is to assist students in reaching maximum achievement academically, socially, and personally.
