Athletic director, Bryan Way, graduated with Honors from WRHS in 1980. He played offensive guard for the Demons and was a member of 2 Region Championship teams. In 1984, Coach Way graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia with a B.S. in Education. He also has a Masters Degree from Georgia Southwestern and State University (1996), and a Masters Degree from Georgia College and State University (2000).
Coach Way is beginning his 28th year at WRHS, and his 8th as head football coach and athletic director. As an assistant coach, he was on the staff of 13 Region Championship teams, 5 teams that competed in the state semifinals, 2 teams that played in the finals, and a State Championship team in 1988. He was also the head wrestling coach from 1985-1991 and the head golf coach from 1992-2004. His golf teams won 9 Region Championships and were State Runners-Up in 1997. In his 8 years as head football coach, his teams have compiled a record of 59-43-1, including 1 Region Championship, 3 semifinal appearances, and the 2004 AAAA State Championship. In 2011, he was named the region 1-AAAA Coach of the Year, All Middle GA Coach of the Year, Atlanta Falcons AAAA Coach of the Year, and the Georgia Sports Writers Association AAAA Coach of the Year.
Coach Way and his wife, Robin, have two daughters, Taylor and Kylie. The Way’s are members of Bonaire United Methodist Church.
