Hello! I am excited to serve the students and families at Quail Run Elementary! Warner Robins is definitely considered home for me because I have spent the majority of my life here. I graduated from Northside High School and then received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Liberty University. I was employed by HODAC for five years as a Student Assistance Counselor and worked with the school system helping students at the alternative schools. I completed my Masters of Education in School Counseling from Georgia State University. I have been an elementary school counselor for 11 years. This is my third year at Quail Run Elementary. My goal as a counselor at Quail Run is to help remove barriers that keep students from being successful at school and in life. I want to help children believe in themselves and give them skills to overcome difficult situations. I want to help them become responsible individuals that make successes out of mistakes. I also want students to know that it is okay to ask for help and support when needed. I believe all students can learn but not all children are the same. So we have to teach children differently based on their needs and skills. I also feel it is my responsibility to help create a safe and caring environment for students to learn in. The counseling programs key word for this year is empathy. I want to teach students how to relate to each other and put themselves in the other persons shoes. I want them to understand the feelings of others and show kindness to each other. When I am not at school I am with my beautiful family. I have been married to Ron Smith for 18 years and we have two handsome boys. Lawson is 8 years old and Drew is 6 years old. Both are students at Quail Run Elementary. We spend our weekends playing Upward sports activities. If I can help your family during difficult times or with difficult situations, feel free to contact me by phone or email. My door is always open to offer a helping hand. |
