Welcome to Quail Run Elementary School, where all students “Believe, Achieve, and Succeed!” My name is Cheryl Thomas. I have been the Assistant Principal for Instruction at Quail Run for the past 3 years and now I am honored to serve our students, staff, parents, and community as the principal/learning leader of this wonderful school.
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Cortland, in Cortland, NY. I received my Masters degree from Georgia Southwestern as a Reading Specialist, and additionally I received both my Specialist and Doctoral degrees in Educational Leadership from Argosy University located in Sarasota, Florida.
I grew up on a dairy farm in Brockport, NY which is located in upstate New York. I was a flight attendant for American Airlines for three years after graduating from undergraduate school. After flying with American Airlines for three years, I then went on to teach kindergarten and third grade at Miller Elementary School, and then 2nd grade at Eagle Springs Elementary School.
I am married to Ronnie Thomas who is an Ag teacher at Houston County High School. We have two beautiful children, Grace who is 6 and Ronnie who 3. Grace is a proud Quail Run cub in 1st grade this year. I enjoy spending as much time with my family as possible, reading, gardening, traveling, and attending FFA cow shows and activities to support the Houston County FFA.
I look forward to meeting the needs of all students in our building on a daily basis, continuing the tradition of excellence, and achieving our ultimate vision of leading the state in Platinum level status.

Hello! My name is Richard Rogers, and I am honored to be the Assistant Principal for Instruction for Quail Run Elementary School.
I was born and raised in the Atlanta area. My mother was a lifelong educator, and my father worked for Delta Air Lines. After graduating from high school, I earned a Bachelors Degree in Middle Grades Education from the State University of West Georgia. I continued my education by earning a Masters Degree in Middle Grades Education from the State University of West Georgia and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University.
Before moving to Houston County, I taught elementary and middle school for five years in Oconee and Coweta counties. I have been an employee of the Houston County School System for the past four years. I taught Honors Science and Language Arts at Bert Rumble/Huntington Middle School for three years. During this time I was the Quiz Bowl coach and the team leader of the Honors’ department. I was selected as the Teacher of the Year at Huntington Middle School for the 2007/2008 school year.
I have been married to Alicia Rogers, a speech therapist, for eight years. We have one beautiful daughter named Ava Elaine Rogers. I am excited to have Ava joining me at Quail Run this year; she will be a Quail Run Cub in the Pre-K program! In my spare time I love to read, travel, and spend time with my family. Mr.Billings comes to Quail Run Elementary as a product of the Houston County School System. He attended Tucker Elementary, Perry Middle School, and graduated from Perry High School. He later graduated from FVSU with a Bachelor Degree in Middle Grades Education, a Master Degree in Middle Grades Education from Cambridge College, and a Specialist Degree in Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
Mr.Billings began his teaching career at Westside Elementary teaching fourth graders and later moved to teaching sixth graders at Bert Rumble Middle School. While teaching at Westside Elementary in 1999-2000 he was recognized as "Teacher of the Year."
Mr.Billings has one daughter,Chelsea, and a devoted wife, Catina. In his spare time he enjoys reading, working out, and spending time with his family. |
