At least one-half unit of credit in American literature/composition shall be required. All courses that may satisfy the remaining units of credit are identified with a "c". The other courses identified with an "e" are electives. Grammar/Composition shall be a component of all courses and shall be integrated into the course of study, not isolated.

Mrs. Heath graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in English in 1989. She returned to Athens in 1991 and completed graduate studies in English. Mrs. Heath received her teaching certification in English from Georgia College & State University. After teaching two years at Northside Middle School in Warner Robins, she joined the faculty of Perry High School in the fall of 2003.

Deona Pudder

Ms. Deona Dragon-Pudder is a 12-year teaching veteran. She has been with Perry High School since 1999. Her first year teaching was spent at Twiggs County Comprehensive High School, which was followed by 5 years teaching English, psychology, and computer classes at Middle Georgia Technical College. She has a Bachelor's degree in English Education from Georgia Southwestern State University, a Master's Degree in English Education from Georgia Southwestern State University and is currently working on her Doctorate at Argosy University in Sarasota. Through the years, Ms. Pudder has worked with Student Council, Xenophilia, and School Council. She enjoys being involved with students, along with the parents and community. Ms. Pudder has a handsome 8 year-old son who attends Tucker Elementary. He, ironically, loves math, but also has a love of reading.
