Cathy Heller, Art

Cathy Heller is the art teacher at Perry High. She has taught art for 7 years in Houston County and 2 years in Ben Hill County. Cathy graduated from Peach County High School in Fort Valley, GA and then attended the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA. Cathy received her Bachelor of Education in Art Education from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah and her Master of Education in Art Education from Valdosta State University.

Joe Sendek, Drama

Mr. Joe Sendek is in his fifth year as Perry High's Theatre Instructor. Mr. Sendek also taught 9th grade College Prep and Pre AP English. He has an Associates degree in Theatre from Gordon College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting and Directing from the University of Montevallo and a Master's Degree in Education from UM. Mr. Sendek is currently working on his doctorate degree in Education Leadership and Administration from Argosy University in Sarasota. Mr. Sendek is the One Act Play and Spring Musical director and the sponsor for the PHS Thespians. Mr. Sendek is also responsible for the Miss PHS pageant and works with the PHS Literary team in dramatic interpretation. He is married to Melissa Sendek, a Spanish teacher at Perry High, and together they have a son named Jacob.

Melissa received an Associate of Arts degree from Gordon College, a
Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Montevallo, and a
Master of Education degree at the University of Montevallo.

Cat Shaw, Band

Cat Shaw graduated from Columbus State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in music education in December 2007. While attending Columbus State University, Ms. Shaw was a recipient of the HOPE Scholarship, a Schwob School of Music scholarship and was a Dean’s List and School of Music Director’s List student. She also performed with the CSU Wind Orchestra and various chamber groups and new music ensembles.

Ms. Shaw is a member of MENC and participated in Sigma Alpha Iota while at Columbus State. Ms. Shaw was a graduate of Houston County High School in 2003 and participated in the band all four years under the direction of her father, Wally Shaw. This is Ms. Shaw’s first year teaching and she is very excited to be a part of the PHS band staff.
