  • National Teachers Hall of Fame
    The Hall of Fame annually honors five teachers who have demonstrated commitment and dedication to teaching our nation's children.

  • Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching
    The Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching was the idea of Golden Apple founder Martin J. "Mike" Koldyke, who felt that excellent teachers were not receiving adequate recognition for their important contribution to society.

  • Miliken Family Foundation-National Educator Awards
    The Miliken Family Foundation National Educator Award provides public recognition and an unrestricted financial award of $25,000 to elementary and secondary school teachers, principals and other education professionals who are furthering excellence in education.

  • USA All Star Teacher Awards
    Four times a year, USA TODAY honors outstanding students and educators with the All-USA Academic and Teacher Teams. Students named to first teams receive $2,500; teachers receive $500 and $2,000 going to the school for use at the teacher's discretion. In the student programs, judges may select 40 more runners-up to the Second and Third teams. They receive certificates of achievement.

    ING Unsung Heroes began 10 years ago as a way for ING to demonstrate its commitment to the education community. The awards are given to K-12 educators pioneering new teaching methods and techniques that improve learning.

  • The NEA Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence
    The NEA Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence recognizes, rewards, and promotes excellence in teaching and advocacy for the profession. It honors public education and the dedicated members of the National Education Association (NEA).

  • American Stars of Teaching Award - US Department of Education
    American Stars recognizes and honors superior teachers with a track record of improving student achievement, using innovative instructional strategies, and making a difference in the lives of their students.

  • Phi Delta Kappa/Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Awards or Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year Awards
    The Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year program is one of the largest teacher recognition programs in the country. Since its inception in 1995, the program has recognized more than 25,000 teachers in the U.S. and Puerto Rico and contributed more than $19 million to those schools. The Wal-Mart and Sam's Club Foundation partners with Phi Delta Kappa International, the world's leading education association, to implement this recognition program. In 2005, Wal-Mart donated more than $4.1 million to local schools with winning teachers.

    ASCD, in our ongoing search for what works in schools, has decided to seek out, highlight, and celebrate the accomplishments of a young educator who achieves excellence and equity in teaching and learning.

  • CCSSO National Teacher of the Year
    The National Teacher of the Year is chosen from among the State Teachers of the Year by a national selection committee representing the major national education organizations. Each April, the National Teacher of the Year is introduced to the American people by the President of the United States. The National Teacher of the Year is released from classroom duties during the year of recognition to travel nationally and internationally as a spokesperson for the teaching profession.

Math, Science, Technology Teaching Awards
  • Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching
    The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching are the Nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science. The Awards recognize highly qualified K-12 teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession.

  • Cable's Leader's in Learning Award
    TheCable's Leaders in Learning Awardsis Cable in the Classroom's annual awards program to recognize administrators, educators, community leaders and policymakers who demonstrate vision, innovation, action and transformation in education. The objective of the awards is to promote and encourage innovative learning practices by honoring individuals who have transformed an aspect of education on a large or small scale.

  • ILife Educator Awards
    The Apple iLife Educator Awards contest was created to recognize the most innovative uses of iLife, an integrated suite of Apple's award-winning software for digital music, photography, moviemaking and DVD creation, in the classroom.

  • Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Program
    Outstanding Earth Science Teacher (OEST) awards are given for "exceptional contributions to the stimulation of interest in the Earth Sciences at the secondary level." Middle school and high-school teachers are eligible. Eleven national finalists are selected, one from each NAGT regional section. Some sections also recognize state winners. Individuals may apply themselves or nominate a colleague for the award.

  • NCSS Outstanding Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award
    National Council for the Social Studies honors annually the outstanding performance of teachers, researchers, and other worthy individuals and programs, and has encouraged unique and innovative social studies education projects through its award and grant programs.

  • The Gilder Lehrman-Institute of American History "History Teacher of the Year"

    Inaugurated in 2004 by Preserve America, the History Teacher of the Year Award is designed to promote, celebrate, encourage and honor the teaching of U.S. history in America's classrooms. The Gilder Lehrman Institute was selected by Preserve America and the White House to coordinate and present this annual award, which honors one outstanding K-12 teacher of American history from each state and U.S. territory.

  • Organization of American Historians
    The Organization of American Historians sponsors an annual award to recognize the contributions made by pre-collegiate or classroom teachers to improve history education.

  • VFW's National Citizenship Education Teacher Awards
    The VFW's National Citizenship Education Teachers' Award recognizes the nation's top elementary, junior high and high school teachers who teach citizenship education topics regularly and promote America's history and traditions. Nearly 1,000 teachers are from every state, the District of Columbia and overseas. Fellow teachers, supervisors or other interested individuals can submit nominations by November 1 to your local Post.

Student Awards
  • PROMOTE Georgia Award
    The PROMOTE Georgia Project provides students in grades 2-5, 6-8, and 9-12 the opportunity to work in teams to perform research and develop educational Web sites that teach others about a selected topic. PROMOTE Georgia focuses on teaching standards through Project-Based Learning. Supervised by a classroom teacher (coach), teams of students will select a content standard(s) that is applicable to their grade level and develop an educational Web site designed to teach others.
