About Arrive Alive

What is Alive Arrive?

Arrive Alive is a community campaign to organize students across the state to combat the number one killer of their age group- automobile accidents due to drinking and driving. A teenager is involved in a alcohol-related accident in this country every 10 seconds. Its a serious problem and its happening in your school- but hey... You can do something about it!!!

Why Was Arrive Alive Organized?

To raise awareness of the dangers of drinking of driving or of riding with a drinking driver.

To stress the Necessity of wearing safety belts as a defensive measure against others who drink and drive.

To show teenagers how to have fun without alcohol and drugs.

How did Arrive Alive begin?

It all began in a small Rotary club in Decatur, Georgia. Jack L. Mathis, a member of the south Dekalb Club and now chairman of Arrive Alive Georgia, saw a need for DUI education project based on prevention rather than consequence. So many teens feel they are invincible.- "nothing will ever happen to me".

Prom and graduation season is the time of year when the statistics hit their peak. Many teens see alcohol as the appropriate way to celebrate a major event in their lives. but the combination of inexperienced driver, inexperienced drinker, youthful risk-taking behavior, and peer pressure doesn't stack the odds in their favor. Even responsible teenagers who not drink and drive are in danger because of other who do.

Arrive Alive as developed as a positive program, to be operated by students for students. The heart logo signifies that friends don't let friends drink drunk because they care about them. H.E.A.R.T stands for "Help End Alcohol Related Tragedies"
