Reading Eagle

Welcome to the Eagle's Nest

The mission of the Eagle's Nest is to serve as the heart of the school
encouraging a love of reading for pleasure and effective users of information and resources.

This mission is accomplished by:
  • providing instruction in information literacy
  • providing access to informational materials in a variety of formats and media in a positive environment
  • encouraging a love for reading and finding and using information
  • promoting the use of the Media Center by students and faculty
  • collaborating with teachers to develop educational strategies to meet the information needs of students and to support curriculum objectives
Media Center Policies and Procedures
Our media center is open for all students each school day 8:00-3:30. Students may come to the media center for book check-out, research and silent reading throughout the day with permission from their teacher. Students K-2nd may check out one book at a time. Students 3rd-5th grades may check out two books at a time. We do not charge fines for overdue books; however, students are unable to check out a new book until the late book is returned. If a book is damaged or lost, it must be paid for before check-out privileges resume. We are asking to help your child be responsible for his/her library book. Help your child find a safe place to store his/her book. We recommend that once the library book has been read at home that it be placed back in the child's bookbag. We must work as a team to take care of our books and keep them in good condition. Reference books are reserved for use only in the media center in order to be readily accessible to students, teachers and staff.

Media Specialist

Welcome to the Eagle's Nest! My name is Hollie G. Sisk and I am thrilled to serve as Parkwood's Media Specialist. I am a proud alumnus of the Houston County School system. I graduated from Warner Robins High School and then continued my education to earn both degrees at Georgia Southern University, graduating in 2001 with my B.S. in Special Education and then my master's degree in Instructional Technology/Media in 2004. I taught students with special needs for five years and served as high school media specialist before obtaining my position at Parkwood. My husband, Jon Sisk, is the Technology Education teacher at Perry Middle School. We enjoy having the same schedule so we can spend time with our children, EmmaLaine and Samuel. Our family loves to attend Georgia Southern football games and have fun on the beach.
