NHS Special Education Department

The NHS Special Ed. Department is made up of fifteen teachers and five paraprofessionals. The department serves approximately 235 students with varying disabilities including specific learning disabilities, mild intellectual disabilities, other health impairments, traumatic brain injury, emotional behavior disorders, and the hearing impaired.
The majority of Northside's special education students are served in the Interrelated setting, however, we also provide services in the self contained setting for those students requiring a more support.

Northside High School Collaborates
Northside High School currently offers special education services under the collaborative model in two freshman English classes and two freshman social studies classes. The collaborative model allows special education students to receive services in the general education classroom. The special education teacher and the general education teacher work together to meet the needs of their students.
