Welcome to Ninth Grade Reading and Writing in the Tabor Academy at Northside. My name is Vicki Allen, and I have been teaching ninth grade since 1990. I earned my B.A. in English from Longwood College in Virginia in 1990, my M.Ed. in English Education from UGA in 1993, and my K-12 Reading Endorsement from Atlanta RESA in 2006. I have taught in Athens and Warner Robins, GA. I have published teaching guides for Penguin USA and remain active and educated in new approaches to classroom instruction and remediation. I believe I can always do a better job of helping my students.
Our main goal in this class is to improve reading, writing, and thinking skills. Most of our activities focus on reading comprehension and written expression.
I am married, have two children (one attends Russell Elementary and one attends Thomson Middle), and live on a farm in Crawford County. I drive a minimum of 50 miles a day just to come teach at NHS! Go EAGLES!
