Experience: After working for an advertising agency and for WGXA-TV, Mrs. Tignor returned to college take the courses required to become a certified teacher. After teaching for six years at Southwest High School in Macon, Mrs. Tignor returned “home” to her alma mater to teach Marketing Education and sponsor DECA. Northside has been the host school for DECA Region 10 competition since 2000, and Mrs. Tignor has had at least one student each year to advance to the International DECA Career Development Conference and Competition based on performance on the State level.
Biography: A native of Warner Robins, Mrs. Tignor is a product of the Houston County public school system. Very active as a high school student at Northside, Mrs. Tignor participated in drama, ensemble, Sr. Exec., Beta Club, and as a majorette. She attended Mercer University, where she was a member and Vice-President of both Chi Omega, women’s fraternity, and Delta Sigma Pi, professional business fraternity. She married her college sweetheart, John Tignor, in 1985 and moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida in 1987. She returned to Warner Robins in 1992 and began teaching at Southwest High School before joining the Northside staff in 1998. She is an active member in the Georgia Marketing Educators Association and served as Vice-President in 2000. She is also a member of Georgia Association for Career and Technical Education, the Association for Career and Technical Education, and the Marketing Educators Association. The Tignors are members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She and her husband have two children, Jaye and Johnny, who are both “true blue” and can’t wait to attend Northside High School. The family can be seen regularly at the children’s soccer games and at Northside football games.
