Miller Elementary was established in 1957 as a part of the vision of Mr. John T. Miller, for whom the school is named. Mr. Miller was a Houston County Commissioner and community leader who saw the need for a school to serve a developing neighborhood. The school opened in 1957 with eight classrooms. A second wing of twelve classrooms was completed in 1959. A third wing of four classrooms was completed in 1968. An art, music and physical education facility was completed in 1991. A major renovation was finished in the spring of 1999. The renovation included enlarging the administrative offices and the media center.
