Miller Elementary 1957

School History

Miller Elementary was established in 1957 as a part of the vision of Mr. John T. Miller, for whom the school is named. Mr. Miller was a Houston County Commissioner and community leader who saw the need for a school to serve a developing neighborhood.

The school opened in 1957 with eight classrooms. A second wing of twelve classrooms was completed in 1959. A third wing of four classrooms was completed in 1968. An art, music and physical education facility was completed in 1991. A major renovation was finished in the spring of 1999. The renovation included enlarging the administrative offices and the media center. Portable classrooms have been added to the campus to adequately serve the Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 students.
