Welcome to the Lindsey Elementary School Media Center!

Our media center is open from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily! Our media center mission is to encourage students, faculty and parents to become successful lifelong learners through reading.  We show students how to be active and responsible learners by teaching them how to use technology and books of all kinds most effectively.

Students are welcomed into the media center for book check-out, and research throughout the day with permission from their teacher. Students in grades K-1st  may check out one book each week while students in 2nd-5th grades may check out 2 books each week.   We do not charge overdue fines; however, students are unable to check out new books until all overdue books are returned. In the case of a lost or damaged books, parents may choose to bring in a replacement book or simply pay for the lost or damaged item.  Reference books are reserved for use in the media center so they will always be accessible to students, teachers, and staff members.

Our collection offers over 10,000 books and many other materials for our staff and students to utilize throughout the year.  The students are instructed in the use of reference materials, including Internet resources and a variety of reference books.  Students also enjoy the Landing Pad in the media center for quiet reading time. We also have storytime for the lower grades.  The skills the students learn will follow them throughout their lives.

We LOVE Reading Counts at Lindsey!  Scholastic Reading Counts! is based on years of reading research which shows that students who read more achieve more. Scholastic Reading Counts gets your students reading on their own and provides an easy way to manage and assess their independent reading.  Students read books and then take on-line quizzes which measure their comprehension mastery. Students are awarded points for every quiz they pass. When reading goals are met, students are rewarded!

Most of the books your child reads will have a Reading Counts quiz.  So, encourage them to read and take quizzes at school!

Recycle Empty Printer Cartridges

and old Cell Phones

Unsure of what to do with your empty printer cartridges and old cell phones? Well, send them to the media center of course. We box them up and send them to the Funding Factory. In turn, they give us credit to buy equipment and supplies we need for all grade levels.
