Mr. James Brock

Mr. Brock graduated from Northside High School in 1999. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from Mercer University in 2003. Later, while teaching at Auburn University, he received his master’s degree in applied mathematics. He is certified in Math and English, and is working on gifted certification this year. He currently teaches Math II and coaches the debate team.

Ms. Tina Cox

Mrs. Cox is very excited to start teaching Math 1 at Houston County High School. She has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Secondary Math Education from Ohio University. She taught 16 years in Ohio at both the middle school and high school levels. Mrs. Cox is married with two college age sons.

Ms. Debbie Dempster

Debbie Dempster started teaching at HCHS in 2002. Prior to that, she taught high school in Milledgeville for 10 years and she taught at Warner Robins Middle School for 11 years. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Math and a Master of Education Degree in Secondary Math, both from Georgia College and State University and a Specialist of Education Degree from Georgia Southwestern University. Debbie’s husband, Sandy, is a Support Desk Specialist at Ga. Farm Bureau in Macon. Debbie has 2 grown sons, Lex and Lee, and 2 granddaughters.

Ms. Tara Elderkin

Mrs. Elderkin is in her fourth year teaching Mathematics to students with disabilities, but in her first year here at Houston County High School. She previously taught Mathematics, Reading, and Computer Applications for students with disabilities in Bibb County. She is also currently the coach of the Varsity Basketball Cheerleaders. Mrs. Elderkin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Mercer University, with a concentration in Management. She holds teaching certificates in 11 areas, including Secondary Mathematics and Interrelated Special Education. Prior to becoming a teacher, Mrs. Elderkin worked in Corporate America in various careers, including computer programmer, technical writer, and financial systems trainer. She is married to Clark Elderkin, Branch Manager at Southeaster System Technologies, and mother of four children, Savannah, Shelby, John, and Landon.

Ms. Lindsey Goff

Ms. Goff began her teaching career at Houston County High School in January 2011 where she currently teaches Math II and Math IV. She graduated from Perry High School and then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Education in Mathematics Education. In addition to teaching, she is also the HOCO Diamonds Dance Team Coach.

Jeff Grange has been a teacher at Houston County High School since 2001. He has a B.S.Ed. in Secondary Mathematics, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Ed. S. in Teacher Leadership from Georgia Southwestern State University. Jeff is married to HCHS teacher Maggie Grange.

Ms. Terri Hammerle

Terri Hammerle, a graduate of Perry High School will be teaching Math 3 and Algebra 3 her first year at HCHS. She will also sponsor the Math Team. Ms. Hammerle graduated from Wesleyan College with a BA in Secondary Math Education. She continued her education at Georgia Southwestern obtaining her Masters in Math Ed and Specialist in Middle School Math and Science. Ms. Hammerle is married with 4 children

Ms. Jenny Jackson

Mrs. Jenny Jackson is thrilled to begin her teaching career at Houston County High in 2006. She was an Honors gifted student at Warner Robins High School. She began majoring in Accounting at Mercer University in Macon. She graduated from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, where she was an active member of the GCSU Accounting Association and the honorary Beta Alpha Psi organization, which recognizes academic and professional excellence in the study and practice of accounting and business. She has practiced Accounting in Atlanta for many years. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of CPAs. She now lives here with her husband Brannon, and their two children, Brandon and Brooklyn.

Ms. Alyson Keenom

Mrs. Keenom began her teaching career at Houston County High School in 2004. She has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Valdosta State University and a Masters and Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, both from Georgia College and State University. Mrs. Keenom is gifted certified and teaches AC and regular Math 3. In addition to teaching, Mrs. Keenom serves as the Math department chair. She resides in Warner Robins with her husband, Chris Keenom, a civilian at Robins Air Force Base and their son, Chace, who is two years old.

Ramona Kenley came to Houston County High in 2006. She received her BS in Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1983. She taught math 17 years in Alabama at both the middle school and high school levels. She taught 2 years in Georgia prior to joining the Houston County faculty. She lives in Macon with her husband Rip Kenley (manager of the Christian Television Network station WGNM) and their son Tripp (born 2006).

Mary Kirk came to Houston County High School in 2006, with over 23 years of teaching experience in 6 states. She received a Master’s Degree in Education from The College of New Rochelle, NY, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Math from Dominican College, NY, and is presently working on her Gifted Endorsement. She is married to Col. Gary Kirk, USAF, Retired, and they have 2 children: Jason, also a math teacher at Houston County High School, and Ashley, a senior majoring in Physical Education at the University of South Carolina.

Mr. Derek Reeves

Mr. Reeves graduated from Houston County High School in 2007 as the salutatorian of his class. After doing so, he pursued a degree in biological engineering at the University of Georgia; however, his love for mathematics and its purity prevailed. While attending the University of Georgia, Mr. Reeves received the J.G. Hollingsworth Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mathematics and the Joseph R. Hooten Award for Excellence in Mathematics Education. Mr. Reeves graduated from UGA in May of 2011, and he currently teaches Mathematics 1 and Mathematics 2. |

Coach Rucki has been teaching 9th grade Mathematics 1 at Houston County High School since 2007. He attended the University of Georgia majoring in Mathematics and Valdosta State University majoring in secondary mathematics education. He also coaches the Boys Soccer team as well as Cross Country. He enjoys the occasional challenge of Connect Four competitions and traveling through South America and Europe in the summer.

Mrs. Shirl Williams has been a mathematics teacher at Houston County High since 1993. She has received her Specialist of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University, her Master of Education Degree in Mathematics from Georgia Southwestern State University, and her Batchelor of Science in Mathematics from Georgia College and State University. She and her husband David have raised two graduates of Houston County schools.

Ms. Williamson began her teaching career at Houston County High School in 2006 where she currently teaches Math 1 and serves as Lead Teacher. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Mercer University. She has been involved in the new math curriculum development on multiple levels, and is curently earning her gifted certification. Her family includes a rich history of educators. Special interests include spending time with friends, trying new recipes from the Food Network, developing creative ways to make learning interactive and enjoyable, and rock climbing.
