Jennifer Bowers is originally from Byron, Georgia.  She graduated cum laude from Georgia Southern University in 2000 with a degree in International Studies and a minor in French.  While teaching English to international business professionals, she realized she enjoyed teaching but would especially love being a French teacher.  She attended Georgia College and State University and earned a Master of Arts in Teaching French.  While pursuing her master’s degree, she studied abroad at the Institut de Touraine in Tours, France.  This is her sixth year teaching at Houston County High School where she sponsors the French Club and French Honor Society.  Mrs. Bowers enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with her husband Alan and their three young children.

Donna W. Christiansen (“Magistra” to her students) is a 1996 graduate of Newnan High School in Coweta County, Georgia. She attended Georgia Southern University and graduated cum laude in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in history and a minor in anthropology. She worked in publishing as an editor before earning a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Georgia College and State University in 2003. In 2009, she completed her Specialist degree in education from Georgia Southwestern State University. Mrs. Christiansen is certified to teach both Latin and social studies and has taught at the middle and high school levels. Additionally, she is the sponsor of Houston County’s Latin Club and Latin Honor Society. She enjoys spending time with her husband James, the band director at Huntington Middle School, and with Curly, their beloved Cockapoo.

Ms. Amy Gallagher

Ms. Amy Gallagher teaches Spanish 2 at Houston County High. She was born and raised in Spain and moved to Warner Robins in 1987. She graduated from Northside High School in 1993. She has a B.A. in Spanish from Georgia College and State University and received her Teacher's Certification from Mercer University. Mrs. Gallagher has also studied at the University of Burgos and the University of Salamanca in Spain. Mrs. Gallagher resides in Warner Robins with her husband, Nathan, their daughter Sophia and their two dogs, Emma and Perkins.

Ms. King joined Houston County High School in 2008 and is currently in her 8th year of teaching. She graduated from Agnes Scott College with a B.A. in Spanish and Foreign Language Teaching Certification. While at ASC, she studied in Mexico and Cuba. Ms. King is a member of the 2011 Cadre of PAGE Teacher Academy, a two-year program designed to connect high-potential teachers with teaching techniques, technology, and exemplary veteran teachers. She is also a 2009 recipient of the Flint Energies Bright Ideas grant. She has a wonderful husband, two children, cats, dogs, and chickens. Her interests include travel, community service, and spending time with her family.

Ms. Maria Pollock

Maria M. Pollock is a Spanish teacher in our foreign language department. She also serves as the Foreign Language Department Chair and Teacher Support Specialist.  She was born and raised in Honduras, Central America. She came to the United States and learned English at Georgia State University. She graduated with a B.S. in 1982 from Georgia Southwestern University. She received her Masters degree in 1986 from Georgia Southwestern University. She has been teaching for 30 years and this is her fifteenth year at Houston County High. Ms. Pollock has two sons and daughter. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her five grandchildren.

Ms. Maria Zell

Maria Zell is a native of Honduras, Central America. She has been living in Georgia since 1984. She graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Georgia College and State University in 1990. She taught at Stratford Academy in Macon for 10 years. In 2004, she graduated from Georgia Southwestern University with a B.A. in Spanish Education. She has been teaching in the public school system since 2004.
