Atkison Ms. Tami Atkinson

A graduate of Georgia College and State University with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in special education, Tami Atkinson has taught different special education exceptionalities, in both the elementary and high school settings. She holds certifications in mental retardation, behavior disorders, specific learning disabilities, interrelated and early childhood education. She taught in Jones County for eight years. She joined the staff at HCHS in 1997 as a teacher of severely and profoundly intellectually disabled students. She is currently a Special Education department chair and a teacher of moderately intellectually disabled students. She and her husband, Greg, have four children, Taylor, Cody, Samantha and Carter.
Averret Ms. Allison Averett

Ms. Averett has been teaching in Houston County for thirteen years. She has a BS Degree in Psychology. She also holds a Masters of Education Degree-Special Education (Behavior Disorders and Mental Retardation). Ms. Averett has taught at the elementary, middle and high school levels. She enjoys going with her students to Special Olympic Events throughout the school year.
Justen Ms. Stephanie Justen

Miss Stephanie Justen earned her BA in Psychology and Communications from Brewton-Parker College. She later received her certification for Special Education, English, and Middle Grades Education from Georgia Southwestern University. Miss Justen is a native of Warner Robins, and graduate of Northside High School. She has been teaching for seven years at both the elementary and high school levels. Miss Justen is currently working on her Master's degree in special education from Georgia College and State University. She lives in Warner Robins with her Siamese cat named Chaucer.

Mrs. Brooks is a Special Education Teacher. She is a graduate of the Houston County School System.
She has a B.S. Degree in MR and a Masters Degree in Learning Disabilities.
Murray Ms. Melissa Murray

Mrs. Murray graduated from Valdosta State University with a Masters Degree. She teachers World History and Civics. She is the proud mom of two daughters ages six and three. She and her husband Daniel reside in Warner Robins.

Lisa Burnette is a graduate of Georgia College and State University. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Middle Grades Education with certification in Math, Social Science, and Language Arts. She has added Interrelated Special Education, K-12, and Mental Retardation Special Education, K-12 to her certification. She is one of our SID/PID teachers.

Ms. Ethridge is a product of the Houston County School System. She attended Westside Elementary,Tabor Middle School and Northside High School. Upon graduation she attended, Macon State College, transferring to Georgia College in Milledgeville,Ga. She received her B.S. in Mental Retardation, followed by a M.Ed in Interrelated, Special Education. She has taught at Elberta Elementary, Pearl Stephens Alternative,and Elberta Open Campus High School. This is her 4th year at the "Bears Den". and her 24th year in teaching. At present time, she is a Collaborative English Teacher with Ms. Styers and Ms. Dukes. A proud parent of a 2004 "Bear" graduate, with a son currently attending Houston County High, and her father a Paraprofessional. There are 3 generations of her family at Houston County High School. She enjoys the academic but also the extracurricular activities. GO BEARS!!!!!!

Jaquel Johnson teaches Interrelated Special Education. She earned a Bachelor in Mental Retardation from Valdosta State University, a Masters in Interrelated Special Education from Georgia College& State University, and a Specialist in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University. She is currently working on her Doctoral degree in Education. Jaquel is a member of Pi Lambda Theta and Kappa Delta Pi. She has taught in the Department of Juvenile Justice in Macon for about five years and in the Henry County School System. In her spare time, she helps the elderly, sings in the choir, and provides remediation services for at-risk youth.

Patti Lindberg is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She has a bachelor’s degree in Interrelated Studies. She has 24 graduate hours in Special Education with certifications in Biology and Interrelated Special Education. She has taught for 8 years in Biology and all areas in Special Education. She is currently teaching SID/PID.

Mrs. Jennifer Hayes has worked in the Houston County schools for two years. She just started teaching a severe and profound intellectually disabled class this year. She graduated from Macon State and Georgia Southwestern with an Associate and Bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her and her husband, Glenn, have one daughter named Tessa.

Dr Wright has been teaching special education at Houston County High School since 2004. Before coming to Houston County she taught in Washington, DC; Las Vegas, Nevada; Anchorage, Alaska; Atlanta, Georgia and Palm Beach County, Florida. She earned her BS in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, her M.Ed. in Special Education from California University of Pennsylvania and her EDD in Educational Leadership from George Fox University in Oregon.

Thompson Ms. Faye Thompson

Mrs. Faye Thompson is a 34 year veteran teacher in the Special Education Department. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from Georgia College, a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southwestern, an add-on Master’s Degree from Georgia Southern in Guidance Counseling, an add-on Master’s Degree from Georgia Southwestern in Special Education, and a Specialist Degree from Troy State University in Guidance Counseling. She is married to Larry Thompson who is retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base and is a Baptist Minister. They live on a farm in Eastman where they raise horses, ponies and goats. They have two children and six grandchildren. In their spare time, they enjoy camping, boating, fishing, and especially time with their children and grandchildren.
