James Brock is a native of Houston County. He graduated from Northside High School in 1999. Then attended Mercer University, where he obtained a bachelors degree in 2003 with majors of Chemistry and Mathematics. Later he attended Auburn University where he will obtain a Masters in Applied Mathematics. At Auburn he was the instructor of record for classes including College Algebra, Pre-calculus Trigonometry, Pre-calculus Algebra, Business Calculus I & II, Calculus and Abstract Mathematics. He currently teaches Algebra 2 and Geometry. He is also the policy debate coach here at Houston County High. War Eagle!

Mrs. Brenda Campbell is a 34 year veteran teacher in the Mathematics Department and is also the Mathematics Department Chair. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from Mercer University, a Master's Degree in Math Education from Georgia Southwestern, and a Specialist Degree in Math Education from Columbus College. She has won numerous teaching awards including Star Teacher and Teacher of the Quarter. She is married to Bill Campbell who is an Instructor in the Mercer University School of Engineering. They live in the small, quiet town of Marshallville and have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. In their spare time, they enjoy family time with children and grandchildren, riding motorcycles, boating, and traveling.

Dempster Ms. Debbie Dempster

Debbie Dempster started teaching at HCHS in 2002. Prior to that, she taught high school in Milledgeville for 10 years and she taught at Warner Robins Middle School for 11 years. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Math and a Master of Education Degree in Secondary Math, both from Georgia College and State University and a Specialist of Education Degree from Georgia Southwestern University. Debbie is married to Sandy Dempster, a computer field engineer. She has 2 grown sons, Lex and Lee, and 1 grandddaughter.

Coach Rucki is in his second year at Houston County High School, teaching 9th grade Mathematics 1 and Accelerated Mathematics 1. He attended the University of Georgia majoring in Mathematics and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics education from Valdosta State University in 2006 and now resides here in Warner Robins, coaching the Boys Soccer team and Girls Cross Country team.

Mary Kirk came to Houston County High School in 2006, with over 23 years of teaching experience in 6 states. She received a Master’s Degree in Education from The College of New Rochelle, NY, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Math from Dominican College, NY, and is presently working on her Gifted Endorsement. She is married to Col. Gary Kirk, USAF, Retired, and they have 2 children: Jason, also a math teacher at Houston County High School, and Ashley, a senior majoring in Physical Education at the University of South Carolina.

Coach Gibbs has been teaching at Houston County High School since 2004 . Along with teaching all levels of mathematics, he also assists with the wrestling team. He has earned a Bachelors of Science in Forest Business from UGA, a Master in Forestry (emphasis in Business, Finance, and Statistics) from UGA, Gifted Education Training through the University of Georgia, and is currently working on a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University. Coach Gibbs worked previously as an Independent Forest Operations Auditor for Weyerhauser Corporation in Oglethorpe, Ga. He is married to Dr. Natalie Gibbs (ENT Surgical Associates of Middle Georgia) and has two children Gabriel and Jenny Lu.

Ramona Kenley came to Houston County High in 2006. She received her BS in Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1983. She taught math 17 years in Alabama at both the middle school and high school levels. She taught 2 years in Georgia prior to joining the Houston County faculty. She lives in Macon with her husband Rip Kenley (manager of the Christian Television Network station WGNM) and their son Tripp (born 2006).

Jason Kirk came to Houston County High School in 2006. He teaches Math Money Management. He earned his BS in Business Administration from Campbell University, where he was also a member of the soccer team. He is currently working on his Master's of Business Administration from The University of Phoenix.

Ms. Patsy Slade came to HCHS in 1999 and has taught high school mathematics for 33 years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in secondary mathematics education from Georgia Southern Un., a Master of Education Degree in mathematics from Georgia Southwestern Un., and a Specialist of Education Degree in mathematics from Valdosta State Un. She also has certification for teaching honors / gifted classes and Advanced Placement Statistics. She has taught College Algebra for Macon State College for several years. She is a member of GCTM. Teaching awards include being selected Star Teacher five times in her teaching career. She is currently teaching College Prep and Honors Advanced Algebra/ Trig.

Coach Jones is in his fourth year teaching at Houston County High School. Along with teaching 9th grade mathematics he also coaches varsity baseball and works with the HCHS Black and Silver Brigade marching band. He earned his BS in Mathematics Education from UGA, where he was a member of the UGA Redcoat Marching Band. He has also obtained his Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from GC&SU and will begin working towards his Specialist’s Degree in Administration next school year.

She has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Valdosta State and a Master’s and Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, both from Georgia College and State University. In addition to teaching, Alyson is the Varsity Football/Competition cheerleading coach. She is married to Chris Keenom, a civilian at Robins Air Force Base.

Mrs. Shirl Williams has been a mathematics teacher at Houston County High since 1993. She has received her Specialist of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Columbus State University, her Master of Education Degree in Mathematics from Georgia Southwestern State University, and her Batchelor of Science in Mathematics from Georgia College and State University. She and her husband David, owner of Williams Auto Sales, have raised two graduates of Houston County schools, Jonathon and Allison.

Dana Morris is a mathematics teacher in the 9th Grade Academy and has been at Houston County High School since 2005. She is a Houston County native, having graduated from Perry High School. She began college by majoring in Mathematics Education at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro and finished her degree at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus. Mrs. Morris’ family consists of her husband, Tony, and her sons, Harlen and Harrison.

Mrs. Jenny Jackson is thrilled to begin her teaching career at Houston County High in 2006. She was an Honors gifted student at Warner Robins High School. She began majoring in Accounting at Mercer University in Macon. She graduated from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting, where she was an active member of the GCSU Accounting Association and the honorary Beta Alpha Psi organization, which recognizes academic and professional excellence in the study and practice of accounting and business. She has practiced Accounting in Atlanta for many years. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of CPAs. She now lives here with her husband Brannon, and their two children, Brandon and Brooklyn.

Ms. Williamson began her teaching career at Houston County High School in 2006 where she currently teaches Algebra 1 and Geometry. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Mercer University. She is also furthering her studies through the PAGE Teacher Academy, a two-year program designed to connect high-potential teachers with teaching techniques and skills, technology and exemplary veteran teachers. Her family includes a rich history of educators. Special interests include spending time with friends, trying new recipes from the Food Network, developing creative ways to make learning interactive and enjoyable, and rock climbing.

Mrs. Marrlee Heath is a 29 year veteran teacher in the mathematics department who came to HCHS in 2005. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, a Master of Education Degree in Mathematics Education, and a Specialist of Education Degree in Mathematics Education all from the University of Georgia. She has taught mathematics at the Governor’s Honors Program at Valdosta University and continues to serve as a GHP interviewer. She has taught College Algebra and Trigonometry at Andrew College. Teaching awards include being selected as System Star Teacher and District Star Teacher. She was selected by Gov. Zell Miller as an outstanding Georgia Educator and was invited to participate in the Mathematics Roundtable. She presently serves as the Math Team Sponsor at HCHS.

Mrs. Joni Thompson has been teaching for five years and is in her second here at Houston County where she teaches Algebra 2 and Geometry. She received her Bachelors Degree from Central Missouri State University in Architectural Drafting and her Masters Degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Education. She is married to Lt. Gerry Thompson, USAF, and they have tow daughters, Kiara and Makala. Mrs. Thompson is also the assistant coach for the HOCO volleyball team.
