| Student Council |
The purpose of the Student Council is to provide good will among students, to help promote school spirit and to give all students a sense of sharing and responsibility for and about Morningside Elementary School. Student Council members are nominated by classroom teachers. Elections are held by the student body for officers each fall. Ms. Torok is the teacher sponsor for Student Council. |
| Art Alliance |
The Art Alliance is an introduction to drawing and painting class open to 4th and 5th grade students. Students are encouraged to learn and share their interest in drawing. Meetings are held monthly, sponsored by Ms. Deibert. |
| 4-H |
The 4-H club is open to fourth and fifth graders at Morningside. 4-H Students promote good citizenship in the school and community. 4-H meets once a month and is sponsored by Ms. Lanier. |
| Junior Master Gardeners |
The JUNIOR MASTER GARDENERS program introduces young gardeners (4th & 5th graders) to the art and science of gardening, and helps them develop leadership and life skills to become good citizens within their community, school, and family. Ms. Lanier is the teacher sponsor for Jr. Master Gardeners. Jr. Master Gardeners meet weekly. |
| Panther Pals |
Panther Pals are civic leaders for the school. Each classroom teacher nominates two students to serve as Panther Pals for the year. Panther Pals help around the school during special events and play a special part in making new students feel welcome to the school. Ms. Torok leads the Panther Pals. All meetings take place during the school day. |
| Morningside Melodies |
Chorus at Morningside -"Morningside Melodies" - is for 4th and 5th grade students who have a love for music. Practice is twice weekly in the mornings, 7:45-8:25. Ms. Powell is the Chorus sponsor. Chorus members perform for the school and attend special events, such as singing at the Galleria Mall for Christmas and at the local hospital. |
| Morningside Prancers |
Morningside Prancers is a dance team that promotes sportsmaship, positive self-esteem, and dance. 4th and 5th graders must try-out for the team, maintain positive behavior and a C+ average. Prancers meet monthly and is sponsored by Ms. King and Ms. Moss. |
| Drama Club |
Drama club exposes students to the performaing arts and gives students an opportunity to enhance public speaking skills. Drama club is open to all grade levels and will have one performance each grading period. Drama Club meets monthly and is sposored by Ms. West, Ms. Cooper, and Ms. Bright. |
| Morningside JAMMERS |
Morningside Jammers is a jumprope team that promotes physical fintness, sportsmanship, and team building. Try-outs are held for students. Students must maintain a passing average with positive behavior. JAMMERS is open to all grades, 2-5, with performance at school and community functions. JAMMERS meets monthly and is sponsored by Ms. Wheaton and Ms. Howard. |
| Morningside Memory Makers |
Memory Makers involves fourth and fifth graders in creating the school yearbook each year. Students must be good citizens of the school and maintain a "B" average. Students will take pictures of school life, create copy, and sell yearbooks to students and staff. Memory Makers meet monthly and is sponsored by Ms. Noah and Ms. Turner. |
| Dream Academy for Boys |
The Dream Academy is designed to raise self expectations in academic, behavioral, and scoial settings with an emphasis on setting positive life long goals. The club is open to 5th grade boys and will meet once a month. Dream Academy meets monthly and is sponsored by Ms. Williams and Ms. Thompson. |
