Huntington Middle School
Book Fairs

The media center sponsors several book fairs each year; profits are used to buy additional books and AR tests for the school. We begin the school year with a themed book fair that involves the students in interactive contests. Students love to bring their parents and grandparents to shop during the special parents’ night activities.
During the “Clued into Reading” book fair, students had an opportunity to “solve” a murder and enter their hypothesis into a database.
During the “Go Wild with a Good Book” fair, students watched a PowerPoint presentation about an ancient legend and searched the school for keys to unlock the mystery chest.

Shopping during the family event |
Score Big with a Good Book During the TEAM Read Book Fair, students used a database to vote for a book they would most like to read. Students guessed how many peanuts were in a bag, and students who spent $25 or more picked a sport duck from the pond to win additional prizes. The family event was a big success with 50 families represented. Students, parents, and teachers donated $112 for Scholastic's One for Books program. For each dollar collected for HMS, a book was donated by Scholastic for the children of the Katrina disaster. |
