Linda Horne Named Executive Director, Elementary Operations
The Houston County Board of Education approved Superintendent David Carpenter’s recommendation to name Linda Horne the new Executive Director of Elementary Operations. She will assume the job duties as of July 1, 2009, replacing Patsy Hutto who is retiring. Employed with the Houston County School System for 26 years, Horne has been the principal of David Perdue Primary School since 2003. She previously worked as an instructional coordinator at Quail Run Elementary and Perry Elementary. She has also taught fourth grade at Kings Chapel Elementary and served as a counselor at Kings Chapel and Shirley Hills Elementary. Prior to coming to Houston County, she taught in Fitzgerald, Georgia, San Antonio, Texas and Okinawa, Japan.
“I am very excited and honored to have been chosen for this position,” said Horne. “I will have the opportunity to work closely with the best group of elementary principals in this state. Our school system has always been known for helping students become high achievers and we strive each day to become world class. I want to support each school as they continue to work toward achieving these goals.
Horne graduated from Fitzgerald High School in Fitzgerald, Georgia. She holds a certificate in instructional leadership from the University of Georgia, a master’s from Georgia College and a bachelor’s degree from Tift College. Over the past years, she has provided professional learning training for teachers and administrators in Houston County as well as other systems in our state. She has also presented at both regional and national conferences.
